The angel is crafted as a “shelf-sitter” designed to rest its crossed legs over the ledge of a shelf, mantel, or decorative box. The right hand extends outward, typically designed to hold a tiny ceramic flower, bird, or to simulate blowing a kiss. These mid-century porcelain cherubs were frequently produced by novelty distributors like the US Commemorative Fine Art Gallery or imported from manufacturers in Japan and China during the 1950s through the 1970s.
