This is a stunning piece of “made for export” work from China. I thought the fact that it only says “CHINA”, which is incised, instead of “made in China”, “Republic of China”, “Hong Kong”, etc. might help date it, probably from 1920-1940, but no such luck, as the following excerpt from a Chinese export expert notes.
