Marked to Sitzendorf, the slashed S indicating a date of 1859 – 1900. Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur was established by Wilhelm Liebmann in 1850. Nestled in the beautiful valley of the upper Schwarza in the Thuringian Forest, Sitzendorf has gained special significance for Thuringian porcelain. Georg Heinrich Macheleid invented porcelain in this place, independently of others who did the same. In 1760, he submitted a request to Johann-Friedrich von Schwarzburg, Rudolstadt, with the request to open a porcelain manufactory here in Sitzendorf. Excellent condition, the tip of the index finger on the man is chipped off on the left hand, otherwise no problems, even the flowers and leaves which usually break first are in excellent condition.
